The Basic Traffic Rules And Regulations In India

The traffic police and the government of India are taking all the necessary steps to ensure that the citizens of our country do not break the traffic rules & regulations. As per the data published by the Government, thousands of people lost their lives from road accidents caused due to either reckless driving or violation of traffic regulations. To improve the safety of people on roads, challans are issued against the traffic violators. The fines are decided in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. However, recently, the traffic fines have been increased and you can get complete details about it online as they vary from one state to another. For instance, if you live in Andhra Pradesh, then you can check Andhra Pradesh traffic challan and the revised list of fines.

The traffic police have the authority to release a challan if you are found violating the traffic rules and regulations. Some of the basic traffic rules and regulations are drunk driving, overspeeding a vehicle, talking on mobile phones while driving, not wearing a helmet or seatbelt, underage driving, driving an unauthorized vehicle, driving without DL and RC, not following parking rules, etc.

To make everything more streamlined on public roads, the Government has now made it mandatory for the vehicle to be annexed with a FASTag. This will help in better road management at the toll plazas. FASTag allows for the automatic deduction of toll charges and hence people need not wait in a long queue for the cash-based transaction. If you have not yet purchased a FASTag, then you can apply for PNB FASTag online. You can apply for Punjab National Bank (PNB) FASTag through their online web portal. Here are the complete details about the application process:

Besides the steps mentioned above, a crucial step in every application process is the submission of relevant documents. In order to get a FASTag for your vehicle, you need to submit the below-mentioned documents either online or offline.

  • Vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC)
  • Know-Your-Customer (KYC) documents

If you are not comfortable with applying online through the web portal, you can also visit the nearest bank branch or the POS located at the toll plazas. Another key information regarding a FASTag is that it is non-transferable, hence you cannot transfer it to another vehicle once it is fixed to a particular motor vehicle.
